Clearing and Initial Grade

Location of Project: Hayesville, NC

We started by doing the initial grading and cleared about 2,000 square feet for a house pad. It was a tricky job since we had to take down trees on a slope, but safety was always our top priority. We made sure to call in burn permits ahead of time for a big brush burn—just one example of how we plan ahead and do things the right way. We also put in a 150-foot driveway to wrap it all up.

Backfill and Put in Septic system

On this project, we carefully backfilled around a crawl space and, during the same trip, installed over 310 feet of fill lines for a 1,000-gallon septic tank. The weather made things challenging—we had to start and stop the job since septic systems can’t be installed in wet conditions. But with constant communication and planning ahead, we were able to get it done on time.

Clearing, Initial grade and Septic, and demolition

We cleared about an acre of vegetation and trees to rough in a pad for a 3,500-square-foot home. Part of the job also involved demoing and removing an existing single-wide trailer, which we hauled off the site. For grading, we made sure everything sloped away from the house to allow for proper drainage. We installed a 180-foot driveway with a riprap ditch on the left side that tied into an existing creek. To manage erosion, we put in over 300 feet of silt fence along the disturbed area and blew straw across the site. We also installed a 1,000-gallon septic tank to wrap things up.
